Why You Should Promote Your Business on Reddit

Reddit threads attract people with real problems and those threads rank on Google and get cited by AI tools long after they're posted. Here's why it's worth your time.

You probably didn't land here because you love Reddit. You're here because you need customers and someone told you Reddit is where they are.

That's the right instinct. But Reddit is not like other channels, and if you treat it like one, you'll get banned or ignored within the first week.

What's actually happening on Reddit right now

Every day, people post things like "what's the best tool for X?" or "I've been using Y for months and it's terrible, what do people switch to?" These are not passive readers. They have a problem, they're actively looking for a solution, and they're asking publicly.

That's the opportunity. You're not interrupting anyone. You're showing up in a conversation that was already happening about a problem your product solves.

Most marketing puts you in front of people who weren't looking for you. Reddit is one of the few places where people are already looking.

Why right now specifically

In 2024, Reddit signed a content licensing deal with Google. Since then, Reddit threads have ranked much more prominently in search results. Search for most software categories and a Reddit thread is the first organic result, often above dedicated review sites.

LLMs like ChatGPT and Perplexity pull from Reddit heavily when answering product recommendation questions. Not because of any special arrangement, just because Reddit has years of real user opinions that make good source material.

The practical result: a comment you leave in the right thread today has a good chance of appearing in Google search results and AI recommendations for months after you wrote it.

What this means for your product specifically

You don't need to be active across all of Reddit. You need to find the threads where people are already asking about the problem your product solves, and write comments that genuinely help them.

A few good comments per week, done consistently for a few months, tends to outperform most paid channels in terms of lasting value. Not because Reddit is magic, but because the threads you engage with keep getting found long after you wrote them.

The rest of this playbook covers exactly how to do this: finding the right communities, building an account that doesn't get banned, writing comments that lead to signups, and turning the whole thing into a 15-minute daily habit.
